FRCT - Fundo Regional para a Ciência e Tecnologia
The Regional Fund for Science and Technology (FRCT) is a public institute, funded in 2001, as an independent and autonomous body of the Regional Government of the Azores. It manages the regional funds available for science, technological development and innovation.
The aim of the FRCT is to support and promote science and technology by funding regionally relevant research projects and providing research grants. The FRCT plays an important role in foster national and international cooperation among research institutions and it is a privileged channel for the Regional Government participation in international projects and collaborative activities with external entities to strengthen regional research in all fields of science.
In 2014 FRCT had an overall budget of 2M€, 90% of which spent on regional research projects and grants. FCRT is run by a board of three members, with administrative support from Regional Secretary of the Sea, Science and technology (SRMCT) of the Regional Government of the Azores.
